I’m still trying to fill in my Large D/T grid and a search on the official site brought up the very useful 4/2 trad Memories are made of this..! trad published in 2006 down in Hemsted Forest in Kent. I fired it up and found to my delight that there was the Maelstrom circular series of 23 Mystery caches in the same Forest.😀😀
The series is based on that odd 1980s musical duo Sparks who I remember well on “Top of the Pops.” Who can forget the stern face of the piano player? Was he Ron or Russ Mael?
I picked up #1 of the series just before six and the 2/2.5 caches were fairly easy to find. I got round to #16 and started to look for the day’s target, the trad.
I walked backwards and forwards, sideways, ever way looking for the cache for at least thirty minutes. I was on the point of giving up when I spotted something that shouldn’t be there. The cache is brilliant, clever, cunning, you name it. I was so lucky to spot it and I’d love to post a picture of the cache but it would be unkind to the CO. Needless to save it earned a fave point.😀
I carried on with the Maelstrom series finishing that at 0743. I headed off to my next and final cache of the morning - the 4.5/3.5 22. Kent Mega 2015 Challenge Cache which was up near the Padock Wood Hop Farm. The challenge here was to find 125 caches in a day and you know that I achieved this two day’s ago.🤔
Once I had parked the car, I set off over the fields to the search area. I knew from the notes that I would have to cross a ditch and what a ditch, it must have been six feet deep.🥴 I slid down one side of the ditch and clambered out the other side - luckily there was only soft mud instead of water down there. 😀 I soon spotted the well positioned cache and once I had carried out the admin duties, I set off for home.
