It's On There Somewhere!
During the war..... the War Office built a number of gun platforms in the mouth of the Thames to try to stem the flow of enemy aircraft trying to damage the morale and infrastructure of London.
On the evening of 7th March 1917, there was a group of German Gotha heavy bombers on route to London to cause damage. They were probably using the Thames as guidance.
Due to a couple of things, my caching day was going to be curtailed. I left Basildon Station at 0830 and was off to pick off a few stragglers around Hatfield Peverel and Witham.
Now filling the 2/5 square of my D/T grid is starting to be an obsession. Most of them are climbers but I spot one in Sudbury, Suffolk that's on water.
As you know, I'm looking keenly for possible caches that will help me fill my D/T grid. It's getting very difficult to find suitable ones although I'm looking in Eastern and South East England.
Over the past month, I've been making an effort to look for opportunities to fill empty spaces on my D/T grid. I suppose that everyone takes the same path, checking suitable caches on project.gc
I needed a quick cache today and there was a new trad over in Shotgate Park that would do very nicely, if I could find it!🤔
Today was the 8th event that I'd organised. As you know, I've been becoming a bit more adventurous with my choice of venue and this time, it was Rayleigh Windmill.
