Prittle Brook Series - 4th October

I had a couple of hours for geocaching today so I thought I'd do a few of this series. The Prittle Brook runs east to west through Leigh into Southend. It would be great if you had a car at each end and walked along the brook but doing it by car is tricky.

Public Transport

Plans for an early start went out the window as No.2 daughter didn't want to catch the early train! I then only had time for a quick cache and dash as I had plans for the rest of the day.

Cressing to Coggeshall Cache Up - 29/9

I wanted to have a go at the recently resurrected series of the Essex Way between Cressing and Coggeshall. I started off at Cressing Church at 0745, quickly picking up the Cressing Cache. The series was fairly simple but a great walk. I also picked up a few of the Longer Landda series and was in Coggeshall at 1030.

Coggeshall Again - 1st October

After my walk around Coggeshall a couple of days ago, I decided to come back here to try to find some more of the Landda Loop series. I could see that a few were in difficulty and I had DNFed on #10 of the Little loop some months ago.

Sea Wall Trek

As yesterday was my wedding anniversary, geocaching was not on the agenda. However as we visited the Wilkin's Tea Rooms in Writtle for the first time, I got a pass to go to Writtle playing fields to have another go at the Flagging puzzle cache. This one has a habit of going missing and as it had recently been replaced, I thought it prudent to have a look as we were only "just down the road!" Alas it was another DNF for me but I know from an e-mail chat with the CO that I was looking in the right place.

Tiptree Triumphs almost!! - 24th September

Another visit to Jamland to pick up some more of the caches over there. My main goal was the Conyfield Woods series but I had to pick up some stragglers from a footpath that I'd visited a couple of weeks ago. I picked up 5 out of 6 trads but missed out on Not So Easy #2. This was one of these where you have to find the spot to see the cache from. Guess what I was out of luck!

Beastmarsta Meat-Up

I was supposed to be caching in Ibiza today but as that fell through at the last minute, I had a Mr Beastmarsta Meat in East Tilbury to fall back on.

Catch Up Caches

19/9 - Just time for one today, a trad just down the road at the FIve Bells. The Harvester people can call it what they like but everyone locally knows it by its original name. There has been a pub here for centuries and I can remember the blacksmiths in operatigon next door.

Chatham Cache

We went on a coach trip to the Forties Weekend in Chatham today. I've always wanted to visit this place as this was my dad's home port during WW2. There was so much to see and add to that all the period costume especially a chap wearing what would have been a RN radio operator's uniform.

Wall to Wall, Great Braxted

I came back to finish this series this morning. I'd done the groundwork last week but sodded up the calculations. I had a Eureka moment and worked out how to solve the puzzles but realised that I'd got one number wrong. I was able to solve 5 of the 6 puzzles and the CO gave me the missing number and I was ready to roll.
