I'd had my eye on this corner of Essex, the Canfield, Takeley and Eastons triangle for ages now and today's the day.

Just a visit to the meeting tonight at The Bell in Danbury adding an event cache to the list.
"It's my birthday and I'll cache if I want to!" My apologies to Lesley Gore.
Although my birthday was yesterday, this is the present! We arrived at Poole Quay and caught the noon ferry across to the island. After flashing our membership cards at the National Trust entrance, we had a pleasant walk up to the church to try to find the CM, probably the most isolated CM in England. It was a multi so I worked out the coords in the church and noted that the there was a fireplace. I can't remember ever seeing one in a church before.
So we're off home now but just time for a quick trad on a roundabout over the M3 and a short drive over to Martyr Worthy for the CM. What a delightful little church, another gem that we would never have seen but for this great hobby of ours.
A spare couple of hours so I popped over to Gusted Hall Woods in Hawkwell to look for the three trad extension to the little series over there. It didn't take long to find these well placed but easy to find caches. I found a hedgehog, a warbler and a troll.
I've long had my eye on the Great Braxted Wall series so I thought that I'd give it a go this morning. It's a bit involved but you have to find 3 caches, each containing 2 sets of 6 numbers, put them on a grid and work out 6 sets of coords to find 6 puzzle caches.
My plan for the day was to go back to Great Horkesley and Boxted to finish off the Essex Wayne series and its continuation from Boxted with the B2D series. I was also expecting to pick a few other caches nearby.
An early start today so I drove up to Danbury Common to look for the new series of caches that have been published. I'd been told that there are some decent field puzzles in the series.
Having got the news at the weekend that the apples at Lathcoats Farm in Great Baddow were now in season, I'd been making plans for a visit. A splendid lunch at The Beehive Cafe was followed by a tasting session of the available apple varieties in the farm shop.
