Another scorcher but needs must as I have a window of 70 mins so it's off to find the bonus of the bird walk. I got to GZ and there was a chap dangling his feet, I presumed in the pond. As his mountain bike was next to him, I presumed he was cooling his feet. No, he was looking at some frogs and Odanata. Silly me!
Having walked around the Olympic Mountain Biking course a few times recently, I've been thinking that I would have liked to have seen the event in 2012, a bit late now though!
My planned day was cut in half but I still came to Hatfield Forest as I wanted to turn this neck of the woods smiley rather than green! I am a member of the National Trust so parking was sort of free. I parked up and set out to the Southern most part of the forest to solve the Southern Trail. These were fairly ease to find ammo boxes but there was a lot of tramping to get to them.
Following from where I left off last time, I made my way down to the next stage. Watching for trains, I gingerly crossed the track, remembering that poor Bob Evans was killed by a train near here walking down the track after a night on the town. A bit ironic as he was an H&S inspector for C2C!
It's International GeoCaching Day and there's a souvenir up for grabs. I'm off for a three hour walk so it's on the cards. I went back to Fairstead to catch up on some more of the re-introduced Essex Way series.
I've been after a 5/2 DT for a long time. I even dipped on one on Thursday! I'd worked this one out last week (well, with help from Gilly🙂) and if I unlock it today, I'll plug that gap in the grid.
I have shot up 13 places on the CM ladder rising to 374 with a new total of 395 Church Micros found.
I only had half a day today so spent time around Chelmsford Racecourse. I did a few Byways, some of the Felstead Hamlet series and a couple of Repton's puzzles ending up at ST Cressing.
I had the opportunity of looking for the Wherigo cache that I'd done all the hard work for on Friday. In the end it was near the track that I'd used to get back to the start point last week.
