A Trip To London Town

I was on the 0627 train into Fenchurch Street and just before seven, I was pounding the dimly lit streets of Wapping towards the final stage of the ST - Tower Hill mystery. I was given a whisper about solving this one at the NYD event in Wickford. I don't think that I would have got the connection without the nudge.🤫

I was after ALs today so I caught the tube over to Bayswater. I wanted to look for the K6x4 mystery but as much as I tried to crack this one I had a DNF. I walked down towards Marble Arch taking in the Hidden London - Sacre Blur trad on the way. It took me a while to find this one though.

At Marble Arch, I set off on the LC23 - Hyde Park : Marble Arch to Hyde Park Corner AL series. This ten base series took me down the eastern side of Hyde Park touching on numerous places that I had heard of but never visited. However I had never heard of the Animals in War Memorial and that one made me think. I finished the series at Hyde Park Corner and then detoured the short distance over to the RST - Down Street multi. I solved the puzzle ok but could I find the cache.🥴

I caught a bus up to Marylebone up to where the LC23 Mega was held and started on the LC23 - The Adventure of the Missing Crown AL series. It didn't take long to knock off the ten bases which was just as well as I had an event to get to by noon. I worked out that I wouldn't get there by public transport in time so I jumped a cab.

I alighted at Tottenham Court Road tube for the Wolf Moon 2024 event. I got there a couple of minutes late but it was already busy. I spotted Young Team Heed and Whitefriar who told me the very sad news about Sludgebucket RIP passing. I was introduced to a few more new faces including JustFiz, the hostess with the toilet plunger TB that she can't get shot of.🤣

I walked down to Trafalgar Square to try to locate the Ale Trail  - Heritage pubs in the West End (bonus). It took me ages to spot the well "hidden" cache in full view of the teem of passers-by not giving it a second glance. It was so clever that it deserved a favourite point.💚 The
Metamorphism@Oscar Wilde Stone EC was only a few hundred yards down the road so I went down there to gather some answers.

I had been after the penultimate base of the One Day in London multi for about a year now but building work in front of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square had covered the information source. Luckily it was all clear today and I spotted what I needed. Just one to go now and that's over at The British Museum. It was time for lunch so I popped up St Martin's Lane passing Diagon Alley to a favourite cafe of mine for food, coffee and a sit down.😀

Fed and rested, I walked up to the Museum and soon found what I was looking for. I was heading north now up Gower Street. I was after the Tragedy & Comedy multi first of all, which was quickly added to the pot, and then the UCL Walking Tour (Bloomsbury Campus) AL series. There used to be some trads here but they seem long gone. I wandered around the campus visiting all the bases. I probably looked out of place amongst all these students but I'm sure that they all looked upon me as a distinguished visiting professor.🙄

I wasn't far from the Euston Road so I jumped a bus and alighted a mile west and quickly found the Let's go practice medicine! trad. Just down the road was the Marylebone Explorer multi. It seemed like a lot of work for a 1.5/1.5 cache and I had visited two of the waypoints until I decided that the rest of it would have to wait for another time. As luck would have it, a trusty 205 bus came along which would take me to Aldgate. It would have been silly not to, wouldn't it.🤔
