Bean’s Do

Read story

Geocaching HQ always knock out an official souvenir for caches found on NYE or NYD although they have now extended it to the week before and the week after New Year to qualify. I could qualify with any cache but today I want to attend Bean & Sprout’s do over at a cafe over on the Dengie peninsula in Latchingdon.

The meeting started at 0830 but I was out earlier in SWF for the A stroll around South Woodham Ferrers AdLab series. I started at the station and found four of the five bases before setting off for Cold Norton and the VHs Letterbox. After a quick park and dash, I was off to the outskirts of Tillingham for the 3/4 The Long Tunnel Multi. This one had caused me some grief but with the coords for the final stage in hand, I soon had the cache in hand after a short rummage around.😀

It was now 0835 so it was time to head over to Latchingdon. However, just outside Steeple was the 2.5/2.5 A feast for the eyes trad and as I have almost cleared the Dengie of caches, it was silly just to pass on by. A great scenic view from here and a quick find of a cunningly placed cache and I was on my way to the meet.

I spent a very pleasant hour here demolishing a full English whilst chatting to a small band of hardy cachers. Among those present was the most welcoming hostess, Fenners184 and his two junior cachers, littlemissF and Mini F,  Mlockburg and MLockburg_dad. There were two new faces to me, Lisboa_bruno, whose name I had heard and seen many times and his lady friend.

As the meeting wound down, I was amazed not to win the raffle as per usual🤔 but we did all get a Community Event travel bug for attending.😀 I made my way back to SWF and stopped off at the Remembrance Gardens for the last base of the AdLab. I finished off the morning at the nearby Magic Mural mystery but unfortunately it was MIA.🙁
