Eight Years and Still Going Strong

Read story

It seems like only yesterday when I found my first cache, a CM in Rutland, eight years ago today. I still get the same buzz from finding a cache now as I did back then. It's fortuitous that I am out caching today and I have an event booked for later. Here's how the day went.πŸ™‚

I was spending the day in the Greenwich area. I arrived at North Greenwich Station on the Jubilee Line about seven o'clock and headed up to the tip of the peninsula. I quickly found the 6 in 6 International Challenge cache having found six different icons in Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, Slovakia and the U.K. Unfortunately I didn't qualify for the 7 in 7 but I couldn't find the cache anyway.πŸ€”

I realised that the Greenwich Peninsula AdLab series started up here and I managed three of them but I was struggling to find some of the info.πŸ₯΄ Unfortunately I didn't get enough for the bonus.

So I crossed the peninsula to pinpoint the final stage of the Views of London Reverse Cache Wherigo. I found it rather quickly but I had done my triangulation a couple of weeks back.πŸ€” I continued walking down to Greenwich with the Thames to my right until I got into the Naval College.

Here I amalgamated The Palace of Placentia AdLab series and the Maritime Greenwich Revisited and followed the bases of each until everything was completed. All I had to do was the visit the final stage of the Wherigo where I had a quick find thanks to the photographic hint.πŸ˜€

I decided to make a start on the Greenwich Park AdLab series. Once I had found the first base, I saw that I would save time later if I looked for two of the nearby Gates of Greenwich trads and the AFP ~ Greenwich multi. Once I had bagged these I went after another trad - Gates of Greenwich #3.3 but I failed here for the second time.

I was nicely placed to complete the AdLab series and continued down hill towards the Cutty Sark for my event. I was on time for this one πŸ˜€ and met up with RamsPadge, pitbul and pippitt. I hadn't seen Derek since last SundayπŸ˜€ but I hadn't seen Pam and Brian since my boat trip out to the Red Sands Fort virtual. I had chartered a fishing boat from Leigh-on-Sea. There were only ten places at Β£30 a pop but I had no problem filling the boat.
