I parked up in Shenfield just before dawn. I wanted to be here early as JESS CACHE was in a very prominent position and usually surrounded by muggles. I went straight to the host and quickly found the cleverly placed cache without onlookers. I headed up the road but couldn't Shenfield Walk #1 but made up for it by finding #3.😀

I drove up to Hutton Poplars estate. This was originally Hutton Poplars Training School & Residential Home for 400 - 700 destitute children from Poplar in the East End. It was opened in 1906 and closed in 1982. I remember being taken here by coach from my junior school for swimming lessons in the late 1950s. It had the nearest pool to us and all the kids from Basildon went over there for swimming.

I set about clearing up the remaining trads in the A Pop'u'lar Walk series of caches. There is a network of foot paths around the estate which were pretty boggy after the revent heavy rain. I had recently found #6 of the series and eventually found the other five this morning.
