Something About A Lamp Post

I was up extra early this morning and once I reached the City, headed round to Aldgate where I jumped the Circle to Kings Cross. I was after two ECs here but started off with the penultimate base of the I am Sherlocked AL series. I then gathered the answers to fulfill the Quartz Diorite and the Mica @ Kings Cross set by the EC guru D_Leslie_A.

I headed north on the Northern line to Bounds Green that I had never visited before. I know it a little better after completing the Bounding around Bounds Green AL series. I was also able to find the bonus cache too and all before nine. 😀

I headed south to Turnpike Lane where I was going to have another try for the ST mystery. I hadn't been able to solve this before but luckily had received a nudge from friends. When I reached the final stage, it was guarded by a couple of Jehovah Witness ladies who gave me a smile when I was signing the log sheet.😀 About half a mile away was the Tottenham Tour - the bird's the word trad so I headed off for that passing some splendid street art on the way. The trad was the subject of some art but unfortunately the peacock was partially hidden by skips.

I continued south down to Manor House where I was after the ST Manor House (resurrected) multi. The final stage was alongside what looked like it had originally had been a canal but there were many obstructions including a low road bridge. However, a bit of research showed that this was the New River, an artificial waterway established in 1613 to bring fresh drinking water into London from Ware in Hertfordshire.

It was getting on for ten now and I had about thirty minutes before I had to set off to the event. I went down to Arsenal Stadium and finished off the final two bases of the Arsenal Stadium AL series. I had tried to sort out the Tony Adams base before to no avail but the question was easy so no problem today. I had run out of time so I walked down to the former Gillespie Road tube and headed south.

I emerged at Old Street and jumped a bus west to the Goswell Road. Just up the road, I spotted a bedraggled bunch sheltering under a bus shelter. This was the "I'm leaning on the lamp post....." event and I squeezed under and started chatting to the hosts, The Creepy Crawlies. It was good that it stopped raining as the attendees kept arriving.😀 I spotted Goldpot, DoggtWalker, RamsPadge, WanderingWombat, WhiteFriar and OrientGeo there plus many others whose names that I never caught. Once the event had ended, I wandered over to the AFP Islington, Clerkenwell Green multi and once I'd solved this, it was time to head north again.

Back at the Arsenal Stadium, I visited all the bases of the From Highbury to the Emirates AL series. I had a go at the Celebration Corner multi but it took a while to sort out the coords. When they didn't go through the checker, I decided not to waste any more time and moved on. I soon found the North London is Red virtual.

It getting time for lunch so I headed towards the Holloway Road looking for a decent cafe. I settled for a place that seemed to have a feel of Portugal about it. I ordered the salt beef special which could only be described as magnificent, to die for.😀 I hope to end up here again some day.  The CM Holloway ~ St Luke's trad was just round the corner and to finish off the day, I added the Biddestoned Cache trad to the tally.
